Your child’s school teacher will be giving regular spelling tests and spelling homework. Practice through writing out the spellings is generally the best way to learn. If your child finds spellings difficult, don’t overload them with too many words – just practice spelling e.g. 3 words they are getting wrong, every day for a week. Then test your child on these same words once or twice a week after that and the words should stick. If your child is excelling with spelling, add some harder words and ask your child to look them up in a picture dictionary and tell you what they mean.
