Encouraging your child to think independently and solve problems is an important life skill and something which will be tested in SATs. Reception and Year 1 are ideal years in which to encourage your child to have fun thinking through the best way to approach problems and challenges, instead of jumping in head first. Year 2 is a time to focus in on specific types of problem-solving, like verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
