Knowledge of reading letters and sounds will help with writing skills and the two go hand in hand. Keep practising handwriting all through KS1, according to the style they are learning in school. Check your child is holding the pencil correctly and comfortably. They will soon be moving on to writing basic words – even sentences and basic stories. Reward and praise for specific tasks keeps children interested, confident and eager for longer!
