Your child will be learning to write creatively at school, whilst continuing with handwriting practice. Encourage them to use “clever” descriptive words, other than “nice”, “lovely” and “big”. It’s important to remember full stops in the place of the typical, repetitive “and then”. Start stories with imaginative alternatives to “Once upon a time” – like “One stormy, dark night”. Talk about just one or two main characters and a beginning, middle and end, to help your child with structure.
